Wedding Photography at The Edge Bali

When you think of wedding photography in Bali, it’s hard to imagine a more breathtaking backdrop than The Edge, perched high above the cliffs of Uluwatu. Elijah and Morgan, a beautiful couple from the United States now living in Japan, chose this iconic venue to exchange their vows in an intimate, emotional ceremony that was nothing short of unforgettable.

Their wedding day was a heartfelt blend of modern romance and meaningful tradition

The celebration began with a peaceful prelude during the bridal preps, with soft romantic ballads setting the tone as guests gathered under Bali’s beautiful blue sky. The atmosphere was filled with love and anticipation as Morgan walked down the aisle in her elegant white gown, radiant and calm, while Elijah waited with emotion written all over his face.

One of the most beautiful moments of the ceremony was the handfasting ritual, a Celtic/Scottish tradition with deep symbolism. During handfasting, the couple’s hands are gently tied together with cords or ribbons, in this case, a McKay tartan cord, representing the literal and spiritual binding of their lives. The officiant invoked blessings of the sun, moon, rain, wind, and earth, symbolizing balance and harmony in marriage. It’s actually where the saying “tying the knot” comes from.

Later, they honored another tradition, Jumping the Broom, an African-American wedding ritual that symbolises sweeping away the past and stepping into a new chapter together. It was a joyful, laughter-filled moment as Elijah and Morgan leaped hand in hand over the broom, cheered on by their loved ones.

Every frame we captured at The Edge felt cinematic, the dramatic ocean views and the warm glow of the sunset reflecting off the cliffside. This venue truly elevates the experience for couples who want a destination wedding in Bali that feels luxurious yet intimate.

As the night continued, the celebration shifted into heartfelt speeches, a romantic first dance to “Unforgettable,” and a packed dance floor that perfectly summed up the joy of the day. The love, laughter, and energy from this wedding will stay with us for a long time.

As photographers and storytellers, moments like these are what we live for. The quiet glances, the family laughter, the deep-rooted traditions that make every wedding unique. Elijah and Morgan’s wedding reminded us that love, in all its forms, deserves to be celebrated with heart and authenticity.
